FKF Kakamega County League Kicks Off in Style as Zones Deliver Thrilling Weekend Action

The much-anticipated FKF Kakamega County League 2025/26 season was officially launched on Saturday, 7th February, marking the beginning of what promises to be an exciting and competitive campaign across all six zones.

The curtain-raiser took place in Zone E at Mwitoti Secondary School, where Bunge FC stamped their authority with a commanding 2-0 victory over Thunderstorm FC, setting the tone for the weekend’s action. All other matches across Zones A, B, C, D, E and F were played on Sunday, 8th February, drawing large crowds and showcasing impressive talent across the county.


🔵 ZONE A – Tight Contests and Strong Starts

Zone A witnessed closely fought encounters across various venues:

  • Mapera FC 1-0 Muungano FC (Sango Primary)
    Mapera secured a narrow but important win to start their campaign on a positive note.
  • Kagwa FC 1-0 Ploty FC (Mbururu Primary School)
    Kagwa edged out Ploty in a tightly contested match.
  • Matunda Youth 2-1 Mbururu Stars FC (Matunda Primary School)
    Matunda Youth showcased resilience to secure all three points in an entertaining clash.

Fixtures between Matisi FC vs Melody United, Al Iran FC vs Nangili FC, and Homeboys FC vs Mlimani FC were scheduled for Sunday afternoon.


🟢 ZONE B – Goals, Drama and Discipline Issues

Zone B produced both goals and drama:

  • Greenland FC 0-1 Matete United (Mufutu Primary)
    A 12th-minute strike by B. Dancan was enough to hand Matete United victory.
  • Mugunga FC 1-1 Young Tigers FC (Mugunga Primary School)
    S. Wasike (23’) gave Mugunga the lead before N. Noah (44’) equalized for Young Tigers.
  • Maturu Taifa Stars 2-0 Mukhalanya FC (Maturu Primary School)

    C. Patrick (64’) scored the decisive goal in a disciplined performance.
  • Manyonje FC 1-2 Vienna FC (Manyonje Primary)
    After K. Joseph (48’) put Manyonje ahead, Vienna responded strongly with goals from M. Auther (59’) and M. Vincent (65’).
  • Ikonyero FC 1-3 Blue Stars FC (Ikonyero Primary)
    Blue Stars delivered one of the standout performances of the zone with goals from I. Otieno (34’), A. Emmanuel (39’) and M. Emmanuel (51’).

🟡 ZONE D – Goal Fest and Big Statements

Zone D produced the highest scoring matches of the weekend:

  • Scorpions Musingu 3-0 Mundulu FC (Murhanda Primary)
    An own goal by M. Isaac (30’) and a brace from B. Bukaya (47’, 55’) secured a dominant win.
  • Spitfire FC 5-0 Young Simba (St Philips Playground)
    The biggest win of the weekend saw M. Griffin net a hat-trick (25’, 63’, 68’), alongside goals from S. Previck (49’) and B. Derick (88’).
