First Ever Referees Election At Navakholo Sub Branch.

On Tuesday 11th February 2025, the FKF Kakamega Secretary General Mr. Rajab Wangalwa was invited to the first-ever referees election at Navakholo sub branch, an event that marked a significant milestone in the development of football officiating in the region. The election was conducted by qualified match commissioners who ensured that the process was transparent and fair, fostering a spirit of democracy and involvement among the participants. Twenty-three referees turned up to exercise their democratic rights by selecting their leaders, which is indicative of the growing enthusiasm and commitment towards improving the standards of officiating in the area.

The following leaders were elected to the various seats, demonstrating a strong representation of the referees’ community;
~ Chairman – Kevin Khamasi, who has been a prominent figure in local football;
~ Secretary General – Khalid Nyongesa, a dedicated advocate for referees’ rights;
~ Treasurer – Silas Angachi, known for his integrity;
~ Woman Rep – Selah Omulando, a trailblazer in encouraging female participation in the sport;
~ Welfare – Ezekiel Wanjala, who will prioritize the referees’ well-being;
~ Organizing Secretary – Kennedy Maonga, tasked with enhancing coordination among referees.
The outgoing office conceded defeat gracefully and promised to work collaboratively with the newly elected leaders for the benefit of football in Navakholo sub county.

In their speeches, the newly elected office promised to uphold integrity, transparency and accountability, they earnestly requested the FKF office, led by Chair Jeff Mudembei and SG Mr. Wangalwa, to consider them whenever there is a chance for promotion, emphasizing that the majority of referees have been officiating at the regional level for many years without significant advancement. They also expressed the need for representation on branch committees, highlighting that their voices should be heard and valued in decision-making processes.
SG Wangalwa encouraged them to work as a cohesive team, reinforcing the idea that unity and collaboration are vital for the progress of football officiating in Navakholo, and he expressed his belief that together they could achieve greater accomplishments for the sport in the community.
