
National division two mid-season Physical Endurance Tests are currently ongoing in Mumias, Kakamega county, reflecting the commitment to maintaining high standards in officiating for various football matches. This initiative is in accordance with the scheduled mandatory Physical Endurance Tests (PETs) for match officials officiating in the FKF leagues, aimed at ensuring that all referees and assistant referees possess the necessary fitness levels to perform their duties effectively. These assessments not only evaluate the endurance of the officials but also reinforce the importance of physical fitness in enhancing the quality of officiating, thereby contributing to the overall integrity and fairness of the matches they oversee. As the tests unfold, participants are expected to showcase their skills, endurance, and commitment to the sport, setting a benchmark for future seasons.
The training will run until Thursday, 30th Jan 2025, ensuring attendees receive comprehensive knowledge and skills. The NEC member for Western region Caleb Amwayi graced the event with his presence, reinforcing the importance of integrity in the refereeing world. In attendance were notable figures such as the chairman of FKF Kakamega, Jeff Mudembei, who has been instrumental in promoting football at the grassroots level. Also present was the secretary, Rajab Wangalwa, whose dedication to football development has made a significant impact in the region. Women representative Emily Khasiro emphasized the role of female participation in sports, advocating for equal opportunities and support. Adding to the event’s significance, the Chairman of Busia County highlighted the necessity of collaboration among various stakeholders to foster a vibrant sports culture that not only nurtures talent but also brings communities together in a spirit of unity and progress.
