On Wednesday evening, Kenya had the honor of hosting the CHAN 2024 draw in Nairobi, as we officially began the journey towards a prestigious tournament that celebrates African football in all its glory. This significant event not only showcases the incredible talent that our continent has to offer, but also serves as a platform for fostering camaraderie among nations. Kenya is immensely proud to co-host this historic occasion alongside our esteemed neighbors Tanzania and Uganda, a partnership that beautifully reflects the unity and shared passion for the beautiful game in our region. As we look forward to the tournament, it is our hope that this collaboration will inspire a new generation of footballers and strengthen the bonds between our countries, paving the way for future sporting endeavors that unite us all.

The decision to move CHAN 2024 to August presents a unique opportunity for East Africa to prepare extensively, ensuring our infrastructure meets the highest standards. This shift allows us ample time to upgrade existing facilities, enhance transportation networks, and improve accommodation services, all of which are crucial for hosting international guests and teams. This is not just about hosting a tournament – it’s about building a lasting legacy for football in our region, fostering community engagement, and promoting local talent. By investing in sports infrastructure today, we are not only preparing for a series of exciting matches but also nurturing the next generation of footballers, inspiring them to reach for their dreams on both local and global stages.

The FKF President Hussein Muhammed extended his heartfelt gratitude to CAF for their unwavering trust, FIFA for their continued support through innovative initiatives like FIFA Forward, and to our esteemed partners Tanzania and Uganda for their invaluable collaboration. Together, we’re laying the groundwork for a tournament that will not only inspire generations but also showcase the best of African talent on a global stage. This collaboration highlights the importance of unity in our efforts to elevate African football, bringing together diverse communities and fostering a spirit of sportsmanship that resonates well beyond the boundaries of the pitch. By working hand in hand, we are creating an extraordinary opportunity to celebrate our shared passion for the beautiful game and to cultivate a platform where aspiring footballers can shine, demonstrating the rich cultural heritage and competitive spirit that defines Africa.

“The road to CHAN 2024 begins now, and I am confident we will deliver an unforgettable event that showcases the incredible talent and passion for football in our region. This journey is not just about the matches; it’s about the unity and pride that football brings to our communities.
