On Thursday 2nd January 2025, The FKF Kakamega Chairman Jeff Mudembei visited the Referees training program at Malava and had an opportunity to interact with the referees, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose among the officiating community. During the meet-up, the chairman emphasized the significant responsibility that referees bear in the betterment of the sport, expressing that their commitment to fairness and accuracy is essential for maintaining the integrity of football. He reminded them to give something back to the game they love or remain engaged with the sport in meaningful ways, even after experiencing injury or retirement. In this context, he expressed the importance of mentorship programs and community engagement initiatives that allow seasoned referees to guide newcomers, ensuring that the legacy of excellence in officiating continues. He reinforced that referees play a vital role in ensuring players enjoy the game, which in turn helps to increase participation in the sport at all levels.
