HON DAVID KIVISHI SUPER CUP 7th EDITION

On 3rd January, the residents of Manda Shivanga ward were thrilled by the attendance and enthusiasm surrounding the 7th Edition of the Hon. David Kivishi Super Cup. This annual event has become a hallmark of community spirit and sportsmanship, drawing in not just local teams but also dignitaries and sports enthusiasts from far and wide.

The Member of the Kakamega County Assembly, Hon. David Kivishi, a passionate sportsman himself, believes firmly in nurturing the raw talents found within the youth of our communities. He shared that one of the primary reasons for the Super Cup running annually is to provide a platform for these young athletes to showcase their skills and hone their talents to perfection. This dedication to sports and youth development is a testament to his commitment towards fostering a healthy future for the residents.

During the event, Hon. Kivishi echoed the sentiments of his good friend, Hon. Farouk Kibet, who encouraged residents to come out in large numbers to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA) program. He emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that it would provide essential assistance to residents seeking medication in any health facility. The enthusiasm of the crowd reflected their understanding of how crucial such programs are in enhancing their overall well-being and access to healthcare.

A special congratulations was in order for Mukhungula FC, who triumphed and were crowned the winners of the 7th edition of the Super Cup. Their outstanding performance earned them a reward of KES 100,000, along with a full sports kit, a well-deserved recognition for their hard work, dedication, and teamwork throughout the tournament.

As the event came to a close, Hon. Kivishi implored leaders to rise above “dirty” politics and instead embrace a united vision for the common benefit of their residents. His call for unity resonated with many, as he urged all local leaders to prioritize the needs of the community over personal ambitions and to work collaboratively for the prosperity of all.

The occasion was graced by notable figures, including Hon. Farouk Kibet, who is known as President Ruto’s Aide, alongside MCAs led by Minority Leader Hon. David Ndakwa. Chief Officers, led by CO Trade Faith Kitira, as well as FKF officials under the leadership of Chairman Jeff Mudembei, were also present, showcasing strong community support for local sports and initiatives. Their attendance not only added prestige to the event but also reinforced the vital role that sports play in community building and social cohesion.
