FKF Kakamega officials attended an under 17 trials set to scout for players at KMTC SHIANDA. Chairman Mudembei Jeff joined the team in Mumias East Constituency, Kakamega County.

Focusing on not locking any talent out is essential. Returning to the grassroots for scouting will open up more potential. It will also expose more talents.

Talents are in the grassroots; and scouting for Under 17 is inevitable.

The scouts were expected to scout for the best talents from the youths who came in numbers.

Kakamega has talents when you look at the youths albeit young with prowess in football. Those are the ones being targeted. It is a hurdle to wait for the grassroot talents to be exposed. Scouts must go out to where the talents are, or the talents won’t come out for us.

13 youths were selected from the one-day trials and will participate in the National trials in Nairobi. Those who will not be picked to travel to Uganda will be in the federation database.

The FKF Kakamega Chairman and Youth Rep County Government plan to build more sports grounds. This aims to nurture talents and provide a platform for the youths to showcase their talents. If we will have many sports facilities, the youth will be active in sports. This activity will reduce cases of drug abuse and other vices. They will be tired and by the time they reach home, they refresh and sleep. You find the youths have talents but lack sports facilities to train,” said the FKF Kakamega Chairman Mr. Jeff Mudembei.

As schools have closed for the long holidays, the FKF Kakamega Youth Rep urged youths to take part in sports. They should not engage in indecorous behavior. They should not indulge in drug and substance abuse.
