Fans flocked to the stadiums, eager to witness the electrifying action and support their local clubs as they battled for crucial points. With every match filled with intense moments and unforgettable plays, it was an action-packed week that not only highlighted the skills of the players but also reignited the passion for football in the community.
In zone A that comprises teams from Likuyani, it was a goal galore this past weekend. On Saturday, 19th April 2025, Mbururu FC hosted Melody United at Mbururu Primary, and the match turned into a spectacular display of football, resulting in a decisive 5-0 thrashing for the home team. Mbururu’s K. Calistus shone brightly during the match, netting a brace; he opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a stunning strike, showcasing his incredible skill and composure in front of goal. Just two minutes after W. Daniel doubled the lead for Mbururu with a well-placed shot in the 47th minute, Calistus struck again in the 49th minute, highlighting his remarkable form. W. Western region NEC member Mr. Caleb Amwayi led the FKF team in a solemn burial mass service honoring the late Mzee Nelson Mumalia Nandwa, a respected figure in the community. Mzee Nandwa was not only a beloved elder but also the father of Stephen Nandwa, a dedicated Division One Centre referee known for his integrity and passion for the sport. The service, marked by heartfelt tributes and shared memories, brought together various leaders who came to offer their condolences and support to the grieving family. Among those in attendance were SG Kakamega County Mr. Rajab Wangalwa and renowned Western FIFA referee Adam Juma, affectionately known as Tito, along with many others who had great respect for Mzee Nandwa’s contributions to football and the community. Their presence underscored the unity and solidarity shown during such a difficult time, reflecting the deep connections within the football fraternity.
On 24th January 2025, while the FKF President was in Western Kenya, he was accompanied by his deputy, MaDonald Mariga. Together, they were warmly hosted by NEC Western Mr. Caleb Amwayi.
