While launching the league, FKF Kakamega Chairman highlighted a series of significant changes and improvements aimed at fostering a more competitive environment for players and teams. One of the most notable adjustments is the reduction of the registration and affiliation fees from Ksh 18,000 to Ksh 10,000, alongside a drop in referees’ fees from Ksh 1,800 to Ksh 1,500. These changes are designed to encourage more teams to participate, thus expanding the league’s reach and enhancing its overall competitiveness. Additionally, the zoning of the County league into seven distinct zones has been strategically implemented to minimize travel costs, allowing teams to compete more frequently without the financial burden of extensive travel. For the 2024/2025 season, each zone will compete for a prize valued at over Ksh 30,000, which will include football kits to boost the players’ morale and pride in their teams. The overall County league will be determined through an exciting mini league format, where champions from each of the seven zones will battle it out, ensuring that the competition remains fierce and engaging. Importantly, there will be no participation cost in the mini league, making it accessible for all teams. For the County championship during the 2024/2025 season, a substantial prize pool exceeding Ksh 100,000 will be available, highlighting the commitment of the FKF Kakamega branch to rewarding excellence in the sport. The Chairman emphasized that as sponsorship opportunities materialize, these prizes, ranging from the zone level to the county level, will continue to grow larger and more attractive, promising exciting developments for the league. He also indicated that FKF Kakamega is actively scouting for potential sponsors, which signals that good things are on the horizon, further elevating the standards of local football and encouraging budding talent within the community.
